Recently several manufacturers have begun promotional campaigns with the intention of selling "Air Baths" as an alternative to whirlpool baths. Air baths do not provide hydrotherapy hot water massage. It is important the consumer understands the differences, which are many. The NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE and the NATIONAL ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION endorse hydrotherapy produced by whirlpool baths as a means to enhance circulation which is important to anyone suffering from the effects of arthritis and diabetes, along with other aches, pain, strains, etc. Air baths have not received these two major organization's endorsements.
